Our Iceland Plans

I decided to write a little update on some of our trips coming up! I know I have filled some of you in on our plans over on our snapchat(ontheqtie) and on our instagram stories(ontheqtie) but I said I would write a blog with everything in it. As you all know, we have had a very busy summer with our new travel show ‘Red Travel’ with Cork’s Redfm and AIGIreland. We have been travelling and filming all summer long and I can honestly say, I have loved every moment of it. If you missed any of the episodes, you can check them out here. I thought I might have a quieter September but I was wrong… September has been filled with adventures and I have loved every minute of it.

For me, I love September as I feel it’s a great time to plan long weekends and adventures to places you have never been to and it is always a good time to go on some city breaks(It gets rid of the summer blues!!). I was over the moon when my plans started to come together to share some weekend breaks with you at home and abroad over the next few weeks. This weekend, we are heading down to West Cork. We will be staying in the amazing Inchydoney Island Lodge and Spa Hotel, going on a whale watching trip in Baltimore and enjoying an amazing dinner with A Taste of West Cork food festival.

On the 22nd of September, We have a big long weekend planned! We are heading somewhere that was on my 2017 travel bucket list… and anybody who knows me will know how excited I was when this trip all came together. We are heading to Iceland to do a travel series… yes… Iceland! This year has allowed me to check things off my travel and life bucket list and this is definitely one of those. We are flying with WowAir from Cork Airport(they also fly direct from Dublin Airport). We are so excited to be staying in the Sandhotel, a new boutique hotel in the heart of Reykjavík, on the high-street, Laugavegur. We also have a few trips planned out. We are very excited to try The Pearl Tour with Mountaineers of Iceland. The Pearl Tour is an Iceland adventure where you  experience some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena by exploring the Golden Circle, topped off with an unforgettable snowmobile tour on Langjökull glacier. To say I am excited is an understatement. The Blue Lagoon has been on my bucket list for ages so this is a must. We are also trying to pick between a few tours to see the Northern Lights. First is a general tour to see the lights here or by boat here – I am also leaning towards a trip ‘ Warm Baths and Cool Lights Tour’ to see the Northern Lights here.

If you have any travel tips for Iceland, we would love if you shared them with us. We will be making an travel series while we are there so we are really looking forward to bringing you along on the adventures with us.
