Welcome back to the Ring of Cork travel series. In this episode, we are heading on a Titanic exploration in Cobh. We started the day on a Titanic Trail with Michael Martin and afterwards headed in to explore the Titanic Experience.
First up was the Titanic Trail which brings us on a guided town of Cobh which was the last port of call of RMS Titanic. We were taken to re-live a Titanic timeline journey through the historic town of Cobh. The vista of the town remains the same as it was on the day the Titanic’s passengers embarked from the Port of Cork. The tour recounts many interesting facts about the Titanic, the Titanic’s history and its association with Cobh, from when it departed on its last fateful journey nearly 100 years ago. You are advised to prebook your tour online here in advance.
Next stop was the Titanic Experience. We received our boarding card with details of one of the 123 passengers who came to the White Star Line ticket office on Thursday April 11th 1912. These were the final passengers to join the Titanic on her last post of call in Queenstown, Ireland. We then went on a virtual journey to join the titanic for her maiden voyage to New York. At then end, we entered the story room now to learn the fate of me as a passage and the other Queenstown passengers. For all further information and to book your tour, check out their website here.
That’s the end of this week’s episode, what an interesting episode as we put ourselves in the feet of the passages in 1912. Join us next week when we will be heading to Ballincollig to explore the beautiful regional park and relax in the Oriel House Hotel.
